Democrats are doing the work
Not to say you can't complain about Democrats, but too many of them are bad faith.
If you spend any time on political websites, you’ll likely see complaints about Democrats, even if it’s about how Republicans did something monstrous. Too much of our media ecosystem is dedicated to attacking Democrats. Corporate media and even online “progressive” media just slander Democrats for any fault, real or imagined. While not perfect, Democrats are doing their best to fight back against Trump, MAGA, and Republicans.
Democrats shut down Congress
Too many complain about Democrats’ apparent inability to shut down Congress, unlike Senator McConnell’s, but that complaint is wrong for two reasons.
First, the internet is overhyping McConnell as he wasn’t able to stop major Democratic bills like the ACA, the IRA, the PRO Act, or the CHIPs Act. McConnell could only stop Democratic priorities when he was the MAJORITY LEADER; thus, he had more power, like deciding when to put bills up for votes. He was far less effective as the Minority Leader, and he only had success because former Senators Manchin and Sinema willingly hindered Senate Democrats, as seen by the fact that both were Democrats in 2021 but left Congress as independents.
Second, House Democrats HAVE shut down Congress because of Epstein. Because Trump is melting in front of us, the Epstein drama has continued to be in the public’s eye. Taking advantage of Republicans’ fear of Trump, Democrats had added amendments to force the release of the Epstein files on every bill. This has caused Republicans to refuse to go to the committees out of FEAR of those amendments, killing every bill. Republican Speaker Johnson even called the House’s summer recess early due to their fear. But besides the sweet schadenfreude, this means Democrats have grabbed hold of Republicans’ kryptonite. Whenever Republicans try to pass any law, Democrats can shut it down by adding amendments demanding the release of the Epstein files, killing the bill.
Democrats are attacking dirtier and sooner
I do agree that Democratic messaging can be lackluster, usually only occurring in the lead up to elections instead of constantly like how Republicans message, and even then, their messaging tends to be too nice. But since Ken Martin has taken control of the DNC, Democrats have noticeably become more aggressive.
Ever since Republicans started facing pushback in their districts, they’ve stopped doing townhalls out of fear. As a result, Democrats filled the gap by holding townhalls in those abandoned districts. And as Republicans look to decimate their base from passing the “kill the poors” bill/OBBY, Democrats have only gotten even more aggressive as they have doubled the number of townhalls [1] and have even started holding townhalls in Alaska after both Alaskan senators voted for the “kill the poors” bill.
Besides Democrats attacking dirtier, Democrats are also attacking earlier, as seen by the DNC airing ads [2] attacking Republicans on their refusal to release the Epstein list. Thus, while the Democratic Party’s messaging might not be as cutthroat as desired, the party is far more willing to attack and draw blood from Republicans than before.
Ready to fight gerrymander with gerrymander
Since 2010, Republicans have abused gerrymandering to boost their numbers in the House, and in their desperation, they’re hoping to do it again. As Trump’s approval rating sinks, Republicans throw a Hail Mary and decide to gerrymander Texas in a desperate attempt to save their majority. [3]
Enraged by this, Democratic governors have decided to fight fire with fire. California Governor Newsom states that if Texas goes through with the gerrymander, he will do the same with Illinois Governor Pritzker echoing the same. [4] New York Governor Hochul has even said, “All is fair in love and war” [5] when discussing a possible gerrymander as well.
Democrats are doing everything to tie Epstein to Republicans
Finally, upon seeing Trump’s utter desperation to hide the Epstein files, Congressional Democrats have become very creative in their attempts to release the files. House Democrats were able to convince three Republicans on the House Oversight Committee to subpoena the Department of Justice to release the files [6], essentially forcing the DoJ to release the files that Trump wants hidden. But knowing how scared Republicans are of defying Trump, Senate Democrats took an alternative path. Using the “5 U.S. Code § 2954 - Information to committees of Congress on request” that states if any five members of a Senate committee request information related to the jurisdiction of that committee, the relevant executive agency, in this case the Department of Justice, MUST submit it. While we have no idea if either of these attempts will work, it doesn’t change the fact that Democrats are willing to use any law to bring the truth to light, and it at least wastes the Trump administration’s most valuable resource: time.
I do not believe Democrats are above being criticized, but too many of these criticisms are either demanding that Democrats do the impossible and outright stop Trump and Republicans or complaining about things Democrats ARE ALREADY DOING! I understand the frustration, but if your response to everything bad that REPUBLICANS are doing is to blame Democrats, you’ve lost the plot. The cold, hard truth is, Democrats are the only party that can save us, BUT they cannot do it by themselves. Democrats are our weapon to save ourselves, but the more people falsely attack Democrats, the weaker the weapon becomes. Democrats are doing the work, and if you cannot accept that, you’re just a fascist supporter.

It’s always the people who are like “Democrats NEED to do this and this” and if they would exit their clout chasing echo chamber, they’d see that democrats are already doing it - and if they’re not, it’s probably because it’s illegal. Our own side just immediately goes to the most bad faith reading of anything the Democrats do.
This reminds me of a note I put up a few days ago. In it, I was saying a) too many people were making opposition to TACO their whole identity and b) they needed to figure out what they actually stood FOR (in a concrete way rather than vague soundbites) before TACO left the scene.
It strikes me that THIS is the other piece of the problem. They want Dems to do the impossible either because they want the former to fail or have no interest in doing the hard work themselves. All that makes them unofficial PR flacks for the regime. And for all their faults, the DNC has done nothing to deserve THAT.
