Gaetz drops out of the Attorney General role

The implications are actually pretty big

So if you haven’t heard the news, pedophile Matt Gaetz dropped out as Trump’s pick for Attorney General after only eight days. This has some massive implications but I think the big one is it shows the limits on Trump’s power. When Trump’s orbit talked about recess appointments, lots of people thought Gaetz was a shoe in even when the Senate Republicans showed massive reclutance for once. The fact it failed showed that Trump does not have the power to move his craziest picks.

Another thing that matters is Trump has already weakened himself BEFORE he even re-entered the White House. Trump’s failure to get Gaetz in, shows he has a lack of control over Senate Republicans even when the party is as subservient as they are to him currently. This proves that Trump is not some evil genius, he’s just a crazy old man that can’t think in terms of strategy as shown by how he weakened himself less than 3 weeks after he won the presidental election, especially since a second of his choices was rejected.

Honestly the fact Senate Republicans were willing to weaken Trump so soon means that Trump will have issues passing bills with the tiny majorities in Congress which will further weaken him. This means most of Biden and Obama’s legacy is safe with the CHIP act, ACA/Obamacare and IRA surviving. Of course the fact that Trump was still willing to try to get Gaetz through shows that he’s determined to do things HIS way even if they’re utterly idiotic. That means mass deportations and tariffs are likely to happen as mass deportation is actually popular among his base while tariffs are something Trump can do without Congress.

Ultimately this shows that if we make noise and choose our battles, we can stop Trump in his tracks. As I have said our democracy is in danger BUT it is not dead. Trump will only be a dictator if we let him be one and I’m not going to roll over without a fight.
