The incels are fighting: Musk and Trump's fallout

A detailed timeline of how the deadliest bromance ended up exploding on June 5th and why it matters to keep fighting

Musk and Trump may have had one of the worst and most destructive partnerships in history because their brainchild, DOGE is estimated to have cost 300,000 deaths with most of them being children as a result of their cuts on USAID. So go on a recap of how these two partners in crime exploded at each other on June 5th, 2025.

The cracks start forming

Right after Trump won re-election, Musk quickly attached himself to Trump like cancer. In the months after Trump won, Musk went everywhere where Trump did and it only got worse once Trump re-entered the White House. Musk flexed his influence over the oompa loompa by constantly butting his head into official business, even taking part in meetings with foreign heads of state like French President Macron, Italian Prime Minister Meloni, and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.

But while Musk was high from believing that he was the shadow president and ketamine, he decided to flex his power by destroying the CR set to pass in December 2024. As House Republicans were forced to rewrite the CR to drop a section that would have damaged Musk’s business, Trump decided to jump into the fray by demanding that the CR also eliminate the debt ceiling. After a long and embarrassing night which even involved Republicans themselves voting down the modified CR, the House was finally able to pass the CR.

Besides causing a shitshow of what should have been a quick CR pass to end the year, Democrats were quick to notice that to pass the CR, House Republicans had to take out Trump’s demand while keeping Musk’s in. Seizing the opportunity, Democrats and Democrat-aligned media mocked how Musk was the real president while Trump was just the vice president. While Musk did everything to downplay the memes, it was obvious that Trump was annoyed by them, starting the crack.

Musk becomes toxic

The moment Musk’s brainrot, DOGE, became real, Musk got to work making himself the most hated man in Washington. From late January all the way to mid-Februray, there was a flood of horror stories of Musk and DOGE either trying to fire civil servants, cut funding for life-saving measures like USAID, or just trying to take over part of the Federal government like the Social Security Administration! Due to this deluge of bad news, Musk quickly became enemy number 1 of the public, even surpassing Trump.

As DOGE’s actions started to be noticed by the public, Musk saw his own popularity tank. Realizing that his position in the administration was in danger, Musk tried to throw money at the problem like the spoiled brat that he was. Musk started investing HEAVILY in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race which was seen as a bellwether election. Especially as the WI Democratic party had already successfully tied the conservative candidate to Musk, not helped by Musk’s massive donations to the guy.

Musk continued to donate to the conservative candidate as poll after poll showed a tight race where the liberal candidate was ahead. Musk realized that if the conservative candidate lost, it would show Republicans that he had become so politically toxic that not even his money could offset it. To Musk’s despair, the liberal candidate ended up not only winning the race but even overperforming by 10 points. Musk had suffered his greatest defeat proved that he became a liability that not even over 20 million dollars could counter just how politically toxic he had become.

Musk grows bitter

Following his massive loss in the WI Supreme Court race, Musk noticeably took a backseat in the administration. Gone were the days when he made the news daily as instead other members of the Trump administration showed just how stupid, incompetent, and evil they were. But behind the scenes, Musk tried his best to still influence the administration but saw few willing to listen. From trying to influence what went into the “We’re All Going to Die” Bill and even attempting to stay in the White House which Trump outright rejected.

Despite the White House presenting as if Musk and Trump had an amicable split, Musk had grown bitter that the administration had cut him off. Musk became determined to sink the MAGA Murder Budget by openly calling out the bill because the bill would heavily damage his businesses. But realizing Republicans completely ignored him, he stewed on Twitter as his hatred grew while making random tweets about how Republicans would rue the day.

The Breaking Point

On June 5th, Musk still stewing in his bitterness posted that Republicans, and especially Trump were ungrateful when the only reason why Republicans have control of Washington was because of him.

Trump with his fragile ego didn’t take well to Musk’s claim that his 2024 win was the result of Musk’s money. Thus in response, Trump attacked the South African Neo-Nazi, claiming that Musk had “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and went crazy when forced to leave the White House.

Musk whose ego is just as fragile as Trump, had a complete meltdown on Twitter where he spent the rest of the day tweeting more and more bitter and insane tweets as the day went on. From:

Ouright saying the tariffs will cause a recession

Saying he’ll outlive Trump

And calling Trump a pedophile

Trump’s meltdown in response was shorter but more impactful as he threatened to terminate Musk’s government contracts.

Fallout

Besides just the pure schadenfreude Democrats/Liberals experienced from seeing Musk and Trump’s messy breakup, the meltdown has caused massive damage to both Musk and Trump/Republicans.

Musk has now made the President of the United States his enemy. President Taco’s brain might be melted but his entire cabinet loathes Musk and is fully willing to use the full brunt of the Federal Government to hurt him. Musk, whose business are already failing, cannot win this fight but because of his inability to accept a loss will also not stop. But besides Musk’s own life being fucked, his outburst will likely tear down whatever lingering influence he had left in the government with many DOGE employees wondering if they’re going to be fired and the administration asking allies of both men to choose sides.

Trump and Republicans don’t have it any better as with Musk as their enemy, they are now fully cut off from Musk’s assets. Besides simply losing Musk’s money, they now also face the possibility of Musk creating a new party that will inevitably split the votes for Republicans due to Musk’s fans being Far Right nutjobs. And beyond Musk’s money, Twitter has now become their enemy. Musk’s hatred of Trump means right-wing freaks will be bombarded by facts they’ve ignored like Trump’s tariffs will cause a recession or that Trump is in the Epstein files. While unlikely to change them into Democrats, it will at least discourage them from voting as well as endanger the MAGA Murder Budget by inflaming their anger against the negative effects the bill will cause.

No one can truly be sure what the future holds but what I am sure of is this victory is because of democracy. What truly caused this breakup was that Americans were motivated to make their voice heard by donating, volunteering, and/or voting. It’s proof that while Trump, Musk, and Republicans do threaten it, Democracy has the power to defeat them as long as we fight for it.
