Why most complaints about the Democratic Party are wrong

While we can and must criticize the party from time to time, it does not mean bitching because of ignorance.

I am a Democrat and I’m proud of it. I’m proud to be part of the party that created the US safety net, worked with Black Americans to end segregation, and won both World Wars. Currently, only the Democratic Party can save us because they’re the only major party that still cares about democracy. While the willingness to criticize the party is needed to keep the party sane, too many abuse it. Too many complaints online are from people who are bitter that they do not control the party or just do not understand the reality of what it means to be a big tent. We must understand which complaints are just wrong if we ever want to take back our country.

A single Democrat does not represent the entire party.

Too many complaints about the Democratic Party are just frustration that not every party member is identical/100% agrees with the complainer’s ideology. The part is a big tent, meaning we have members as progressive as AOC, as moderate as Senator Klobuchar, and as centrist as Senator Slotkin. We should not be angry over the variety; we should celebrate it. Each seat is different, and if we want to have a large majority, we need members who fit each district. For the more liberal/progressive seats, we need someone like AOC, while for the more purple or even red seats, we need a moderate like Klouchar or Slotkin. Demanding that every member be like AOC or Slotkin does nothing but hinder us. Instead of being frustrated that the party won’t agree with us 100% of the time, we need to be happy to have a party that is able to give us 50% of what we want because we have a spectrum of members to have a majority.

The other side of the coin of this is, just because you hate a certain Democrat, IT DOES NOT MEAN THE ENTIRE PARTY AGREES WITH THAT DEMOCRAT. A single Democrat DOES NOT represent the entire party, especially if they are not in leadership. I have seen too many online wreckers claim that some Democrats like Rep. Suozzi’s backward trans beliefs are “proof” that Democrats hate all trans people when he’s just an outlier. Too many of these complaints are not in good faith and are instead wreckers looking for any excuse to hate on Democrats. If we want to help Democrats, we need to understand which complaints are good-faith and which ones are nothing but an excuse to bash Democrats.
