Reason to be hopeful? Republicans are going to overreach

They're going to fuck up as it's their nature now

Optimism right now seems laughable as Trump’s win has untold consequences at home and around the world at the worst time. As Ukraine faces Russia and who knows the horror than an unleashed Israel will have on Gaza AND the West Bank and Trump and Republicans arrogantly thinking they have a mandate to reshape our democracy to a Christan nationalist dictatorship. But if there is one thing I am 100% confident in, it’s Republican’s ability to fuck up. Republicans are going to do the one thing that they have done consistently since Trump turned them into his cult of personality, they are going to overreach and piss off the majority of Americans.

The first reason why is that Trump’s margin victory is puny but Republicans are partying it up as if they had a Reagan style landslide. While yes they have majorities in both the House and the Senate, they are puny. This misplaced confidence has led to Republicans misreading the election like that abortion rights wasn’t that salient issue for women so they can openly anti-abortion. But research has shown that abortion was and still is a very powerful issue for women, who tend to vote more consistently than men. Adding to that, it’s a fact that voters prefer Democratic policies to Republicans ones.

So we have Republicans arrogantly thinking they have a mandate and with completely toxic policies, well it doesn’t take a seer to know what will happen. Especially now that Democrats are now more willing in letting the American public feel the full extent of Republican’s failed policies.

And besides Americans being stuck with Republicans policies that are literally killing people, a lot of Americans are just deluded about Republicans. While mass deportations looks to be popular but when Americans are actually asked WHO gets deported, they sharply turn against it.

In fact a lot of Latino voters that voted for Trump this election honestly believe they won’t be targetted by Trump because they “aren’t criminals” despite the fact Trump when campaigning admitted he would deport the Haitians in Springfield, OH despite them being legal immigrants! And for people worried they’ll still vote Republican after this, we have historial proof of this backfiring when Muslims that used to vote consistently Republican before 9/11 changed to Democrats as a result of Republicans taking a VERY Islamophobic stance afterword.

Finally we have to talk the main reason why Trump ended up winning the election, the economy or rather the false image of the economy. Voters hated the high prices and believed that Trump would bring back the low prices of 2019. The issue is NONE of Trump’s policies are anti-inflationary, if anything they’re the opposite. We have already seen that Trump is a crazy old man that can’t think for strategy when one of his first acts actually WEAKENED him. Based on Trump and even Musk’s statements, Trump WILL damage the economy with the tariffs and they don’t care. Trump’s tariffs are already having a negative effect on the economy as various companies are raising prices and shutting down factories to prepare for Trump’s stupidity. In other words, Republicans are going to Republican and fuck up the economy and when that happens, Democrats will be ready.

As much as this election was depressing, we can’t pretend that this told us what the future will hold especially when so much of Trump’s win was due to misinformation and an anti-incumbent wave due to COVID frustrations. But there are three truths in this world: death, taxes and Republicans fucking up our economy and that ironically gives me, not so much hope but something to work towards.
